What you get when you outsource IT support, from ticket to close
In many accounting and law firms, IT falls to a partner who is good with computers, or to an MSP queue where every small request waits its turn. A dedicated technician gives your staff a helpdesk that knows them, and handles each ticket end to end:
- Intake: log, categorise and prioritise tickets from staff in HaloPSA, ConnectWise or your helpdesk.
- Fix: troubleshoot user, device and application issues remotely, including practice software, printers, VPN and remote access.
- Admin: manage Microsoft 365 mailboxes, licences, shared drives and Teams, and set up new starters and approved offboarding.
- Close and prevent: document each step, write knowledge articles for recurring issues, and monitor backups, patching and security alerts.
Support for practice software such as Xero Practice Manager in accounting firms or LEAP in law firms can be part of the brief.
What stays with you onshore
- Security decisions, admin-level access and approval of sensitive changes
- Hands-on hardware work in the office
- Vendor contracts and infrastructure projects, often with your MSP
How we test IT support technicians
Compare that with the typical IT outsourcing Philippines providers sell: a shared helpdesk where whoever is free picks up your ticket. We recruit one technician for your firm. Each search typically starts with 1,000+ candidates from job advertising, direct headhunting and referrals through vetted local networks. Of that starting pool, about 40% pass CV and quality screening, 20% the video screen, 10% the practical assessment and 5% the structured interview. Around 2% reach finalist review, and you receive a shortlist of 3–4, usually within about 2 weeks.
The practical assessment could include a troubleshooting scenario, such as a staff member who cannot reach shared files from home, with a written ticket handover for an engineer. When you interview, ask a finalist to explain a recent fix to you as if you were a non-technical partner. Look for a methodical approach, sensible security habits and notes someone else could act on immediately.
What a managed agency charges for a technician
With a managed agency, your firm pays a fee every month on top of the technician’s salary, for as long as they support you. Staff Domain, for example, publishes $1,099 per person per month, about $13,188 a year, plus $1,200 per hire (checked October 2026). Over four years that is about $53,952 in fees.
With Tarino you pay a one-time fee, and your technician keeps their full salary because your firm pays them directly. Compare agency fees with a one-time fee, or calculate the markup on a technician salary.
Setting up access before day one
Create the technician’s named accounts, MFA and permission groups before they start, and agree with your MSP which tickets they keep. Plan cover around the Philippines public holidays for 2026 so staff are not left without support. Firms that hire IT support often add an executive assistant or a legal assistant next. A technician who stays learns every quirk of your setup; more than 95% of Tarino placements are still in the role at 6 months. Read how the hiring process works.

IT support technician: common questions
Is offshore IT support secure for a professional firm?
It can be, when your firm controls the access. Give the technician a named account with least-privilege permissions, multi-factor authentication and logging, and keep global admin rights and security-sensitive changes with authorised staff or your MSP. Tarino doesn't hold your systems or data. Remove access the same day someone leaves.
Do we need an offshore technician or an MSP?
An MSP gives you a team and services on contract. A dedicated technician gives you one person who knows your firm's systems and users. Many firms keep their MSP for projects, infrastructure and escalations, and hire a technician for day-to-day support. We help you scope the split before the search starts.
Can you recruit Level 1 and Level 2 technicians?
Yes. Level labels vary between firms and providers, so we define the capability from your ticket mix and environment and assess candidates against that rather than a label. Share a month of ticket categories if you have them, and we can show you which level the work actually needs.
Who hires the technician?
Your firm does. You hire and pay your technician directly, so they receive their full salary. Tarino charges a one-time recruitment fee per hire, with no monthly markup. Pricing is on our pricing page, and Tarino placements come with 6-month replacement cover for the same role, under the conditions in our terms.
